A Tech Day hosted locally by ARaymond Brazil for leading French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroën proved so popular it attracted three times the number of visitors expected.

Held at PSA Peugeot Citroën’s head office in São Paulo, the event was attended by key representatives from the company’s purchasing and engineering departments.

During the day they were able to see samples of the ARaymond™ range of plastic and metal fasteners and quick connector systems, watch videos and pick up brochures, and discuss commercial and technical issues. There were also displays of products produced using the latest 3D printing techniques and other new technologies under development by Rayce, the center of expertise of ARaymond**.

The event was held at the request of PSA Peugeot Citroën and organized by the sales and marketing team of ARaymond Brazil in just three weeks.

Marketing Analyst Joelen Lima said: “We expected 40 visitors to attend but in the end we had 120. The event was targeted at PSA Peugeot Citroën’s buyers and engineers but we also had visitors from their marketing, sales, IT and quality control departments.

“The Tech Day was very informal and welcoming. People could come and go as they pleased and the emphasis was very much on networking and making useful contacts. The feedback we received from PSA Peugeot Citroën afterwards has been very positive.

“Like all car manufacturers with plants in Brazil, PSA Peugeot Citroën is looking to source the production of more parts and components locally and now they have a better understanding of how our know-how and facilities can help them to achieve this.

“Our experts were able to demonstrate the added value of our plastic and metal fasteners and quick connector systems, and explain how our solutions can improve their manufacturing processes by cutting costs and reducing lead-times. Having our own production site in Brazil, close to our customers’ own plants, means we can supply them with our products quickly and cost-effectively.”

Marcelo Salado, PSA Peugeot Citroën’s Purchasing Manager (Mechanical Components) for Latin America, said: “The Tech Day was a very good opportunity to understand the potential solutions that ARaymond can offer PSA Peugeot Citroën.

“These kind of events are also very useful for benchmarking market trends and to identify what OEMs are looking for in terms of solutions.”

ARaymond Brazil held its first Tech Day locally in 2013, for General Motors, and plans to hold more events for both new and existing customers during 2015. Ms. Lima added: “At the end of each Tech Day, we conduct a survey and use the results to improve future events. Our customers tell us they find them more useful and more enjoyable than general trade fairs and exhibitions.

“As well as showcasing new products, Tech Days are a good opportunity for us to strengthen our relationships with OEMs, allowing us to gain a greater insight into their requirements and future strategy. The key message we always try to get across is that ‘we are here to help you and this is what we can do’.”

ARaymond Brazil has recently doubled the size of its production plant at Vinhedo, near São Paulo,to meet growing demand from car manufacturers in South America.
