Rayconnect international renown owes much to the role played by its research, innovation and development staff, based in France and Germany, as a driving force. The primary objective of the R&D staff is to increase the added value of the products offered to the market, by adapting rapidly to customers’ evolving expectations.

In this respect, requirements in terms of price have favoured the use of innovative materials in the composition of connectors (thermoplastics, elastomeric seals), the deployment of more efficient processes (new welding technologies) and more advanced automation.

At the same time, the strengthening of European vehicle pollution emission standards means that Rayconnect must provide enhanced support to its clientele. For example, it has contributed to these changes by integrating valves, using sensors (for pressure and temperature), using connectors to recover leaks from injection systems and by substituting plastic connectors for certain metal ones.
The advent of clean fuel in the transport sector, and more generally, respect for environmental quality, represent an inexhaustible source of innovation for the R&D teams.

Customers’ changing expectations also require the development not only of products but of global solutions (such as connection systems integrating mechatronic connectors and components) providing gains of a technical nature and in terms of profitability.

Providing the answer to all these challenges calls upon the collective intelligence inside the company and elsewhere. The combination of internal synergies is now reflected in the establishment of collaborative projects with Rayconnect partners: customers, suppliers, universities, colleges and Rayce**, its expertise centre. Finally, sharing skills with its international networks (EMEA, the United States, Japan, China and India) contributes to the development of best practice and thus gives the overall strategic vision real consistency.

The task of Rayconnect R&D and Innovation teams is to pave the way for change in all areas, for the business and for its network, whether in terms of technologies, forms of organisation, methods of collaboration or discipline in assessing the effectiveness of our products and services. It is the R&D staff who will take on this challenge, involving the issues specified in Rayconnect strategic vision.
